Empire Drive-In History

The Empire was located at 2109 Empire Boulevard near Route 104. June 3rd, 1949 was its grand opening with the feature presentation "Mickey" starring Lois Butler. I have been told that it boasted a large green screen with enormous pink neon letters, and very uniquely constructed ticket booths. According to the International Motion Picture Almanac, the Empire held 830 cars.
The theater's final year of operation was 1982. I visited the area where the drive-in was, and it is currently occupied by a car dealership and an aprtment complex. I am still in the process of researching media and articles about this theater. If you have any pictures of this theater,  please send me an e-mail!!

Empire Media

Below is a link to the only article I have on the Empire so far. Please be patient when downloading them if you have a slower connection. Source is cited next to link.
