The owners of HoneyCat are Greg & Elaine Gerken from Rochester, New York.  In 2002 we had a dream about purchasing a sailboat that was easy enough for two people to sail and large enough to do a live-aboard on.  We didn’t know if we wanted a monohull or a catamaran so we started our research by reading magazines.  In the fall of 2003 we went to the Annapolis Boat Show where we saw an Island Spirit.  As soon as we stepped onboard, we knew this was the boat for us!  In the fall of 2004 we sold our house to come up with the down payment.  HoneyCat was started to be built in Fall of 2005 and was completed by winter of 2006.

The four-year plan is to put the boat in Charter in the BVI; during which time we would be able to gain the needed sailing experience and have some income from chartering to help pay for the cost.  Once we are ready to do our live aboard, we plan on spending our first winter in the Caribbean and then head to the Mediterranean or wherever the wind blows; searching for new places and meeting new friends!
