Recent news and
upcoming events
It's been a
while...
... since I last updated the website. The summer has been a
busy one so far, with accompanying, church, studying for comps, among
other things.
Recent news
I will be stepping down as Director of Music at the Church of the
Epiphany effective August 31st, 2007. This decision was made after
considerable thought into my plans and goals for the upcoming year.
In the end, I decided that I am at a point in my life where I want to
explore other opportunities, musical and otherwise, while I am still
able and to do so.
This coming year I look forward to doing more accompanying in the
Pittsford School District as well as for the Eastman Community Music
School, working as an assistant organ technician at Eastman, and
spending more time on the ice curling during the winter months!
While I have been doing some organ maintenance work and accompanying
balanced with copious amounts of tennis playing, the prime focus of this
summer has been preparing for the doctoral comprehensive exams which I
plan on taking when they are offered at the beginning of October.
With careful planning, I anticipate being prepared to write them by that
time.
Home for a holiday
I will be at home in British Columbia from July 31-August 11.
The timing of the holiday was planned around me being home for my 30th
birthday on August 2nd and for my sister's 26th on the 3rd. It
won't be a complete break, though, as I will continue to review and
prepare for the exams.
Lecture-Recital
On Thursday, April 12 at Asbury
First United Methodist Church, I presented my DMA lecture-recital,
my final performance requirement for the Doctor of Music Arts Degree.
I was very happy with the result, and would like to thank everyone who
was able to come! Your support meant so much to me. Next up:
comps and orals! The comps are tentatively scheduled for October
2nd and 3rd, I will be preparing 3-4 hours every day from now until
then.
New Family member!
My sister's baby, Deegan Ming James Whitehead,
born April 26, 2006 is happy and doing very well. The new pictures
are adorable, does he take a bad picture? Pictures
