About Ken Avner
Ken began dancing in 1975 at the insistence of
his younger sister and hasn't stopped since! He earned his BSEd in
Dance from Georgia State University in 1987
and has studied with the foremost teachers in the field at numerous
workshops and master classes.
|
Today he is involved in every aspect of Israeli folkdance:
 | teaching at weekly sessions and workshops across the United States and in
Israel |
 | producing sound for all aspects of dance (including the annual NY Israeli
Dance Festival) |
 | running music programs |
 | directing, choreographing, and performing with groups in the US and Israel |
 | founding and directing the Israeli Folkdance Playshop-the world's only
Israeli all-dance weekend |
| It was a great honor for Ken to be selected as one of only
5 dance leaders to represent the US at the |
| first Dance Festival in Karmiel, Israel, in 1988.
|
| Ken's enthusiasm and love of dance, as well as his skills
as dancer, teacher, performer, and markid have brought to him the highest
compliment possible: that he makes dancing more fun for everyone! |
