Welcome

Are you in need of a solid team player for your news staff ? I am an experienced and talented NPPA television news photojournalist currently part of an exceptional news organization that has been awarded RTNDA's "Edward R. Murrow" recognition for "Overall Excellence" for the year 2000, as well as it's second award in four years for "Best Newscast". I am excited to have worked for 15 years in a mid-70s market operation that produces 20s market quality news every day, but I am now eager to find new challenges and to work in closer proximity to my family in Michigan and the Chicago area. I am also interested in exporing new job responsibilities, such as Videotape Editor and Satellite Truck Operator. I believe that I have the solid skills that would make me an excellent addition to your news gathering team. If you would like to see a copy of my resume, please click here.

About My Work

My first love is creating images that will uniquely tell a story to our viewers, and I truly enjoy the diversity of my job and the variety of people I meet on a daily basis. I am a well-motivated shooter who is regularly assigned to work alone to cover various news events and/or to independently gather the elements of an "anchor package" to be produced later in the day. I have worked extensively with our medical reporters, and my experience as an Emergency Medical Technician has been invaluable for my understanding of the specific techniques required in covering this type of news well. I am a diligent microwave "LIVE" truck operator, having trained a number of other photographers in that area, and I am a skilled and efficient videotape editor with a keen interest in learning new technologies (such as AVID and other "off-line" editing systems). I have recently spent a great deal of time training some of our newest photographers, and I have found that to be a very rewarding experience. I also have a number of personal interests and hobbies that enhance my value as a news operation employee, primarily through my ability to interact well with many different people in a variety of situations.

My Resume Videotape

The contents of my resume videotape reflect both the volume and diversity of my experience. The stories on the tape demonstrate my belief in sticking to NPPA basics regular use of NAT sound, effective lighting (even in daylight), and staying on a tripod for everything possible. These examples of my work don't contain a lot of bells and whistles for the most part, and with the exception of the eye surgery stories, they were all shot and aired the same day. They simply show that I am a consistent, dependable NPPA-oriented TV photojournalist who does much more than just point a camera. I would much rather have a potential employer see what kind of work they could expect from me every day than to try to fool you with a tape full of stories that I had days to produce. This tape is available at any time for your review -- it is available immediately in VHS format or can be shipped within a few days in either Beta-SP or DVC-Pro format.
