Re: Jimmy Williams' September post, regarding room 34. He identifies the
hints in the room as all pointing towards the words eye and needle, but
can't work out how the Washington Monument fits in. I think that, rather
than being the Washington Monument, this is actually an obelisk that stands
in Central Park in New York. It's one of a pair of three-thousand-year-old
obelisks, one of which was given by Egypt to the USA, and the other to
Britain, to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal. The other obelisk of
the pair stands on the Thames Embankment in London, and is known as
Cleopatra's Needle. QED, I think!
