A note on the web version of the Nerdity Test:
This test was originally released late in 1993 before the popularity of the Internet and the WWW took off. As such, it has become a bit dated. However, this version of the test has been the most heavily circulated and is regarded as the "classic" version. It is for this reason that it was chosen as the first test to be officially converted to a HTML version. The web version may differ slightly from the original release in order to fix up spelling and grammatical errors.

Originally, the test was designed to be distributed via email, gopher, or FTP, and as such it was thought that people would be reading it either as a print-out or as a text file. Scoring was thus a manual process. The advent of the WWW and CGI utilities has changed this paradigm, and allowed for automated scoring. Despite this, the section on how to tally your score and questions regarding how you have chosen to calculate your score have been left in place, even though they are mostly irrelevant at this point.
