Buddha in the tire! Knowing I collect unusual items for making outdoor art, one of my younger friends brings me presents of things he finds. I have animal bones, an empty turtle shell, iron works, and several street signs. On e day he showed up with this HUGE tractor tire he rolled here. It is almost as tall as me. When I didn't seem duly grateful enough, he told me that he thought I had seemed to be "into circles" so he brought me a "big one!" The tire in the front was here when I moved in. It was a child's sandbox but now it displays white/white narcissus and daffodils in early spring. The day lillies blooming here are brand new this year. I planted them quite late in the season and thought they would not bloom, but they came up and honored Buddha. Actually, since this pic was taken, Buddha and his industrial throne have been moved next to the lilly tire. They make a nice combo piece and look more like intentional art! The Buddha tire is standing just like this, leaning on the lilly tire off to the left. We see that there are diamond shapes and sunstroke like motifs on the tire and are planning on painting them mandala like. In the back, on the left, one can see our fire-pit. A great place for bonfires and toasting marshmallows! Beyond this is the field I have talked about so much. Would love to buy it and add a windfarm or just keep it undeveloped for nature's sake. |
