Rules of the Game
I would like to thank the Moon Man for suggesting the page.

The game will either be 11 or 12 on a side (If the Habs can play with 12 in their football league, why can't we?)
If 11, I suggest we have 5 down linemen.  If 12, I suggest we have 6 down linemen.  One of those linemen can be a TE, therefore an eligible receiver.  The TE eligible must be at either end of the line and the QB yells out the name of the TE before the snap of the ball to declare eligibility.

The game is 2-hand touch, however, the QB can be tackled behind the line of scrimmage for a sack (you have to catch me though).  This is the way it has always been, plus the linemen have a little more incentive.  Once the QB crosses the line of scrimmage, 2-hand touch comes into play.

NO METAL CLEATS!

Orange cones will now mark the out-of-bounds.  Yes, I have used my own dollar to help make this tradition better.  For some reason I remember getting into a discussion with Goodwin or Soron about a catch being in or out-of-bounds and needless to say, I wasn't very happy about the outcome.

I have also bought a kicking tee.  This perhaps can be used on kickoffs (onside kicks may now be a possiblity), rather than throwing the ball.  Also, we may want to incorporate PATs and/or field goals to add another dimension to the game and so you soccer guys feel as though you are contributing.  If we decide to have PATs, then we may want to have an option for a 2 pt. conversion also.

We have always used 2 completions to be a first down.  With the use of cones now, the field can be divided into, lets say quarters for argument sake, so rather than have 2 completions we can have each "section break" act as a fixed first down marker.  Just a thought.

Catch in-bounds: I suggest we use the college rule: "one foot in-bounds is a catch."

Down by contact: I suggest we use the rule "a player is considered down when touched by 2 hands or tackled behind the line of scrimmage if the QB."  This allows a player to slip, but still run if he isn't touched.
